Ultrasound Services
Brady Infrared uses Ultrasound technology to complement their infrared services. It can be used to locate gas/air leaks,
blowing steam traps, electrical emissions and mechanical faults. It is cost effective and will detect problems missed by
infrared thermography alone.

Electrical discharges in the form of corona, tracking, and arcing can be located quickly with ultrasound scanners. The
signal is heard as a frying or buzzing sound in the headset and represents potential series problems in switchgear above
1000 volts. In most cases, these problems will not produce a thermal anomaly, and therefore go undetected using infrared
only. Brady Infrared has helped many clients avoid catastrophic electrical failures through ultrasound. If you have med-
to high-voltage switchgear at your facility, ultrasound technology is for you.

Ultrasound scanner detects the earliest stage of bearing failure long before it is detected by traditional heat and
vibration methods. Brady Infrared is familiar with bearing trending, condition assessment and lubrication techniques on a
wide variety of bearings. Avoid over-lubrication and premature failure of bearings and motor windings.

It has been recognized that the most reliable method to inspect steam traps is using both infrared and ultrasound
technology. By hearing the functions of a working steam trap blow-by, machine gunning, oversized traps or line blockage are
all easily detected. Brady Infrared has performed many steam trap inspections for hospitals, paper manufacturing and the
citrus industry.

As any gas (air, medical gases.) passes through a leak orifice, it generates turbulence detectable by ultrasound equipment
and heard as a rushing sound. Brady Infrared has located leaks on oxygen system leaks, fire fighting carbon monoxide
systems, and a variety of other medical and manufacturing gases around fittings, welds and internal seats on valves.
